The aim of the application process is to guarantee a fair and efficient, allocation of the available beam-time. The process is designed to help both the user and the Centre staff to bring scientifically valuable and well-planned applications to the allocation panel, who is composed from expert scientists.

Ultimately, the application process includes submission of the “CASF Research Proposal” form, to allocation panel. Acceptance of the proposal triggers a discussion with the Centre staff about timing, detailed preparation, charging, and other details required for actual provision of beam-time.

The “Case Research Proposal” form can be found here:

We recommend that before a formal application is made, the proposer will contact the Centre staff (atomscattering@phy.cam.ac.uk), to consult on how to fill the research proposal form, or for a feedback on the application.
